Sidewalk Chalk Decorating Contest – Official Rules

Hosted by the Pacific Heights / Shaker Heights Neighborhood Association

Get ready to show off your creativity! We are inviting all young artists in the neighborhood to participate in our Driveway Sidewalk Chalk Decorating Contest in celebration of the Fourth of July!

Grand Prize:

The winning artist will be named Grand Marshal of the 2025 Fourth of July Parade and will ride in style at the front of the parade in the back of a convertible!

Contest Rules:

1. Who Can Enter:

All children in middle school and below who live in the Pacific Heights or Shaker Heights neighborhoods.

2. Where to Create:

Artwork must be created on your own driveway or sidewalk in front of your home.

3. Theme:

Celebrate summer, freedom, America, or anything festive and fun! Keep all artwork family-friendly.

4. Materials:

Only washable sidewalk chalk may be used. No paint, markers, or permanent materials allowed.

5. How to Enter:

• Create your artwork by Sunday June 30th.

• Take a clear photo of the finished design visible in the photo.

• Private message me, Kyle Schulze, with the photo along with the artist’s name and age.

6. Voting:

• Voting will take place by likes on the Facebook photo post from July 1–3.

• Encourage friends and neighbors to vote by liking your post!

• The post with the most likes by 8:00 PM on July 3rd will determine the winner.

7. Winner Announcement:

The Grand Marshal will be announced in the Facebook group the evening of July 3rd and will ride in the parade on July 4th!
